Unsolicited

Superstition – Stevie Wonder

unsolicited.

you know what is real — your vulnerabilities, your mistakes, heartbreaks.

you know what is courage– being real, being authentic, that hard-ass attitude of never giving up.

you know what is happiness — chasing dreams, right songs, having true friends and utter mindfullness.

you know what is love — the give and take, the respect.

you know what is knowledge– the absolute acceptance that you know nothing.

you know what is freedom — the taste of absolution, the acceptance of imperfection, being yourself, loving yourself.

you known what is wealth — the peace, humbleness, mighty simplicity.

you know what is boring — mislead philosophies, a superiority, the know-it-alls.

you know what is funny — the heart tickling humors and sure-as-ass fools.

you know what is dangerous — thoughts.

Words Changed Me

Day To Day – The Outdoor Type

words.

from the first day i tried to live one day at a time,

one wrecked craft, one song each day,

it became more and more clear to me, what really mattered and what didn’t.

it so dawned on me how easily misled, misfed, misinformed, mistuned and misread we can be about life, lives and living.

finally, boldly, i drifted…

tears to pains.

actions to powerful-powerless thoughts.

real people to just people.

letting go to holding onto.

happiness to prejudice.

empathy to sympathy.

and love above everything else.

.. yes, maybe words changed me.

Days of Yore

Nazm Nazm -Bareilly Ki Barfi

confession.

must i write.

should i write my hardest truths,

the closest to kissing a girl, the convenient i had gotten, — is kissing her on the forehead.

this was how i felt for her,

this was how i loved her.

she will always remain, one of my many, beautiful days of yore.

As O’Donohue rightly argues –

There is a lovely disarray that comes with attraction. When you find yourself deeply attracted to someone, you gradually begin to lose your grip on the frames that order your life. Indeed, much of your life becomes blurred as that countenance comes into clearer focus. A relentless magnet draws all your thoughts towards it. Wherever you are, you find yourself thinking about the one who has become the horizon of your longing. When you are together, time becomes unmercifully swift. It always ends too soon. No sooner have you parted than you are already imagining your next meeting, counting the hours. The magnetic draw of that presence renders you delightfully helpless. A stranger you never knew until recently has invaded your mind; every fibre of your being longs to be closer.

Born With Me

Whispering – Joseph and Maia (7 Layers)

reflection.

today, my body is wrecked,

they told she is giving up on me,

told, soon enough she’s going to collapse, done and dusted.

only now i realize how stupid i was to have sold myself to naysayers, to have taken everything for granted, to have ignored…

ignored the subtle, palpable beauty of my young life, born with me, forever within me, all along.

Ostaseski writes:

Dying is inevitable and intimate. I have seen ordinary people at the end of their lives develop profound insights and engage in a powerful process of transformation that helped them to emerge as someone larger, more expansive, and much more real than the small, separate selves they had previously taken themselves to be. This is not a fairy-tale happy ending that contradicts the suffering that came before, but rather a transcendence of tragedy…. I have witnessed a heart-opening occurring in not only people near death, but also their caregivers. They found a depth of love within themselves that they didn’t know they had access to. They discovered a profound trust in the universe and the reliable goodness of humanity that never abandoned them, regardless of the suffering they encountered. If that possibility exists at the time of dying, it exists here and now.

She Is Where I Live

You Found Me First – Jake Etheridge

she is the world I would never think of stepping my foot on, let alone conquer,

she is wild, she is serene,

she is broken, she is strong,

incredibly too close, but extremely far,

she is free, she is where I live.

Be.

Here With Me – Susie Suh, Robot Koch

you are light, flying, the stars of the night.

you are heavy, sinking, marred with blood, sweat and tears, broken.

either one of the two.

you want to go back to your home. And be.

you want to return to your family. And be.

the home where you’ll always belong.

the only family you’ll ever have.

Hard Work

Afreen Afreen – Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Momina Mustehsan

Dream — every time I look at her, she reminds me of my dreams.

Hard work — an only dependable quantum, the soul, the fire, the story of  my loyal friendship.

She is right, there’s no dream without hard work.

Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.
